25 May Detoxify and Revitalize From the Inside Out
Detoxification or detox for short is the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a living organism, including the human body.
You might benefit from detoxification if you have 3 or more of following symptoms:
- White or yellow coating on the tongue, bad breath
- Acne rosacea
- Congested sinuses
- Increased belly or visceral fat
- Cravings and/or blood sugar issues
- Abdominal bloating, Weight loss resistance
- Insomnia
- Fatigue unrelieved by more sleep
- Chemical sensitivity
Our main organs of detoxification are the Liver, Kidney, Lungs, Lymphatic and Glymphatic System.
Did you know?
- Your Liver performs more than 500 functions, including neutralizing toxins, fighting infections, helping clotting the blood?
- Your Kidneys consist of at least 1 million and up to 2 million nephrons (tiny filters that filter our blood and produce urine)
- Your Lungs breathe in and out about 2,100 to 2,400 gallons (8,000 to 9,000 liters) of air every day.
- Your Lymphatic System drains all of the waste materials that are produced by every cell within the body
- Your Glymphatic System (“Brain Drain”): Is named after the glial cells (nervous system) that are involved in the waste disposal process and the lymphatic system
Lifestyle Factors to Support Liver, Kidney, Lungs, Lymphatic & Glymphatic System function:
- Awaken your Liver: Drink 1/3 lemon juice with warm water first thing in the morning! It will increase bile production and therefore help liver detoxification.
- Drain your Kidneys: Drink plenty of water! You need to have approximately 1oz per 2.2 pounds of body mass
- Rouse your Lungs: Do deep breathing exercises! Allow your lungs and stomach to fully inflate. Hold your breath for several seconds and then exhale over the course of another five count. Repeat this breathing exercise 9 times.
- Support your Lymphatic system: Incorporate dry skin brushing in your morning routine! When brushing, always brush toward your heart. You can brush your entire body.
- Detoxify your Glymphatic System: Get enough of sleep! During sleep the Glymphatic system becomes 10 times more active than during wakefulness.
Supplements to consider for Liver, Kidney, Lungs, Lymphatic & Glymphatic System support:
- Turmeric (Curcumin): This herb works as an anti-inflammatory and supports liver regeneration. It also helps regulate cholesterol metabolism and liver detoxification.
- Milk Thistle (Silymarin): Is hepatoprotective (protects the liver). It protects the liver from daily toxins.
- Celery Root has been used for centuries as a natural diuretic. Diuretic herbs can help your body eliminate toxins via the kidneys by increasing urine output.
- Parsley as a diuretic, it’s helpful for reducing the build-up of toxins in the kidneys and entire urinary tract.
- Burdock Root supports the detoxification process in the body and supports the natural flow of lymphatics.
- Valerian Root aids in sleep onset as well as quality of sleep in a case of underlying anxiety and poor stress management. Good quality sleep is supportive of your Glymphatic system.
Detoxification is an ancient process that dates back as far as the Roman, Greek, Native American and Indian Cultures. Many effective techniques are still sound ways to rid the body of toxins. Saunas, fasting, dry skin brushing, herbs, rest, water, meditation, exercise and a variety of body work are some examples. Resting, cleaning and nourishing the body from the inside out can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.
